Impressive Chinese-style archaistic bronze/copper-alloy Hu-form vase featuring extensive cast decoration throughout.

The vessel has a pear-shaped body rising from a spreading circular foot to a tall flared neck. Each side is fitted with a sculptural elephant/beast-head handle suspending a large loose metal ring.

The body is divided into multiple decorative panels containing finely rendered figures, animals, horses, riders and archaistic motifs. Additional symbols and vertical inscriptions decorate the upper portion of the vase.

The surface displays substantial dark brown, green and verdigris-colored patination and oxidation, giving the piece a wonderfully aged appearance.

Measurements: approximately 11” tall, approximately 5” at widest portion, with an opening approximately 3” across. Please refer to measurement photographs for exact dimensions.

Condition: Pre-owned vintage/antique condition with substantial surface oxidation, patination, encrustation, discoloration, wear and age-related surface irregularities throughout. Both loose ring handles are present. Interior and underside show considerable oxidation and surface wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.

Age and exact origin have not been independently authenticated. This piece is being offered as an archaistic Chinese-style bronze/copper-alloy decorative vessel based upon its form, decoration and construction. No claim is made regarding a specific dynasty or period.

A striking display piece for collectors of Chinese bronzes, Asian antiques, archaistic art, ritual-vessel forms and unusual decorative metalwork.
