Japanese Hanging Scroll – “Sparrows in the Morning Sun” – Kanō Eigaku (1790–1867)

Beautiful Japanese hanging scroll depicting three sparrows in flight beneath a red morning sun, bearing the signature and seals associated with noted late-Edo-period Kanō school painter Kanō Eigaku (狩野永岳, 1790–1867).

Eigaku was an important Kyoto painter of the Kanō school whose works are represented in museum collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the British Museum.
