Pair Antique Japanese Musen Cloisonne Mt Fuji Pagoda Landscape Vases 4.5”

Beautiful matching pair of early 20th-century Japanese cloisonné enamel cabinet vases featuring atmospheric Mount Fuji landscape scenes.

Each vase is decorated with a soft pale-blue graduated ground and a complementary scenic design with Mount Fuji, trees, a pagoda, water, and colorful landscape details. The hazy background appears to use the mūsen or “wireless” cloisonné technique, while portions of the detailed foreground retain visible wirework associated with yūsen cloisonné. The combination creates a lovely painterly effect.

The vases have silver-tone metal rims at the mouth and base. No maker’s marks are visible on the undersides. They display beautifully together and would be an attractive addition to a collection of Japanese cloisonné, Asian antiques, or decorative arts.
