Rare antique Chinese wedding basket or ceremonial food carrier with an octagonal form, hand-painted decoration, fitted lid, wrapped swing handle, and carved pedestal base. This is a beautiful decorative piece with rich red and brown lacquer tones and floral painted panels throughout.

The basket has wonderful age and character, with visible wear consistent with use and age. The form is especially appealing, with its stacked octagonal body, raised lid, and traditional carrying handle.
