Antique Japanese Meiji Mixed Metal Bronze Brass Trinket Box Bird Flowers

Beautiful antique Japanese mixed-metal hinged box featuring detailed raised relief decoration of birds, flowers, foliage and botanical motifs.

The rectangular box appears to be constructed of bronze/brass or related mixed metals and has a rich naturally aged brown patina with areas of green oxidation that highlight the dimensional decoration.

The lid features a bird among flowering branches, while additional floral and nature motifs decorate the sides. The workmanship and subject matter are characteristic of Japanese decorative metalwork associated with the Meiji / early 20th-century period.
